The Ixxat CM CANopen is a compact interface plug-in module designed for the integration of CANopen or CAN 2.0A devices with SIMATIC S7-1200 automation systems. It offers a cost-efficient solution to achieve PROFINET connectivity for CANopen-based field devices. This module offers full integration into the Siemens TIA Portal and configuration tool support.
As a CANopen commander/responder (master/slave) module, the CM CANopen module connects any CANopen or CAN 2.0A field device to a SIMATIC S7-1200 PLC, acting as a bridge between the devices.
System expansion supports up to 3 CM CANopen modules per PLC and up to 16 CANopen responder (slave) devices in Commander (master) mode. This support enables scalable system expansion without significant cost increase.
Configuration is simplified by integration into the hardware catalog of the TIA Portal configuration environment. The CM CANopen module can be easily configured as either a commander (master) or responder (slave) module with no additional programming required. For custom protocol implementation, transparent CAN 2.0A is supported.
For easy troubleshooting, integrated LEDs provide comprehensive diagnostic information on module network and I/O status. Galvanic isolation safeguards against overvoltage and protects from potential electrical damage.

Configurtion
The Ixxat CM CANopen module is integrated into the TIA Portal. The CANopen network is configured easily via USB connection through the CM CANopen Configuration Studio tool, with software and TIA files available for free download. Configurations are uploaded to the module via USB and stored in its non-volatile memory
