The GRID45-EIP is a compact, intelligent RJ45 connector designed for OEMs who need to quickly add EtherNet/IP industrial protocol support to Modbus RTU/ASCII-based products — without the risk and delays of in-house protocol development.

The evaluation model, GRID45-EIP-S, ships preloaded with sample EtherNet/IP firmware for proof-of-concept testing. Once your configuration is verified, production units with custom firmware tailored to your application can be ordered.

With its built-in Modbus client and EtherNet/IP adapter software, the GRID45-EIP firmware maps your product’s Modbus serial data, or proprietary serial data,  directly to EtherNet/IP. Allowing seamless communication between protocols without requiring any changes to your existing application code.

Designed for integration into your PCB with minimal redesign, the GRID45-EIP provides device manufacturers the smallest embedded gateway solution available for bridging Modbus and EtherNet/IP. The result: a faster path to market and reduced integration risk.

Note: EtherNet/IP (Ethernet Industrial Protocol) is a specific application layer protocol used in advanced industrial automation environments and is not short-hand for Ethernet Internet Protocol. Grid Connect engineers are available to answer your EtherNet/IP questions.

Protocol Mapper is a free desktop app (Mac, Windows, Linux) designed specifically for the GRID45-EIP. In two guided steps, configure your Modbus RTU parameters and map registers to EtherNet/IP assemblies - with live validation running as you build. When the configuration is complete, load it directly to a connected GRID45-EIP on your bench. 

When you're ready to move to production, send the validated mapping to us - we'll run conformance testing and deliver a custom part number with the configuration pre-loaded.
