  • Building on the strengths of the xPico - Serial to Ethernet EDS the Grid Connect Enhanced firmware version adds configuration flexibility and powerful email triggers to a networked serial device design. The GC Enhanced firmware xPico supports multiple TCP connections, DNS addressing, and allows for mixed TCP and UDP access to the serial port. Add strong and secure remote notification capabilities with the new email serial trigger capabilities included in the GC Enhanced xPico.

The GC Enhanced xPico module is an extremely small and cost effective solution for adding networking to any device with a serial interface. Powered by a DSTini-EX enhanced 16-bit x86 class processor, this enhanced xPico is a compact chip-sized solution (24mm x 16.5mm) offering a complete device server application with a full IP stack, 256-bit AES encryption, web server, and remote access.

The GC Enhanced xPico module attaches to a device via a 40-pin board-to-board SMT connector and includes 8 software selectable programmable I/O pins. The GC Enhanced xPico is designed to support one serial port with data rates up to 921 Kbps. Additionally, an extended temperature range of -40° to + 85°C makes the GC Enhanced xPico ideal for a wide range of environmental applications. With virtually no need to write additional software, this module can reduce development costs and shorten time to market while adding robust networking capabilities to a serial device.

This enhanced version of the xPico provides the following new features:

    • Email authentication with password support
    • 6-byte match sequence for serial email triggers
    • Modem dial command email trigger option with serial data in the email body
    • Improvements for higher speed serial applications (3 ms idle gap time)v
    • UDP datagram mode 2 and 12 to identify the destination host and port in the serial command

    Support:

The knowledgeable and experienced engineers at Grid Connect provide complete technical support for the Lantronix xPico family of embedded devices. We specialize in customizing xPico and offer phone support and on-line chat support during regular business hours.
