Product Information

Product Description

IP Intercoms from Digital Acoustics provide voice-quality sound over LANs and WANs. The IP7-2x is a two-way, half-duplex intercom with a relay to provide access control for a door or gate. This intercom can be used in pairs with other Digital Acoustics intercoms, with a PC software based console, or with most SIP 2.0 based IP Phone systems. By taking advantage of existing Ethernet networks, the Digital Acoustics intercoms and paging modules are extremely flexible and cost effective.

The DIN-Rail mountable IP7-2x model now comes exclusively with Power-over-Ethernet, and a built in 2-port Ethernet Switch for easy daisy-chaining. If PoE is not desired, an optional US or Euro Power supply is available.

The IP7-2x allows you to connect 3rd party analog call stations, speakers and/or push-to-talk buttons for IP-based two-way communications. We recommend combing the IP7-STx with either an external call station, or the vandal resistant call station. The on-board relay can be used with normally open (electronic) or normally closed (magnetic) style door lock or gate controls. Using the software, the operator can answer the call from the IP7-2x and control the relay with the software. Similarly, the IP7-2x can be integrated into a SIP 2.0 VoIP Phone system which can allow a call from a door or gate to be answered on a local extension, and the door or gate to be opened by using the keypad on the phone!

External I/O and relays are part of the IP7-2x feature set which allows external sensors and relays to be integrated for monitoring and access control. For example, a motion sensor could be integrated to trigger a video camera or alert security personnel. A relay (normally-open or normally-closed) could then be used to open a door or gate.

Using the free TalkMaster™ Focus Solo Software running on a PC, you can answer calls from intercoms, open doors or gates, play prerecorded tones and announcements (.wav format) or use the PC's microphone to make live announcements to IP7-STx endpoints. If control from more than one PC is desired, then TalkMaster Focus Enterprise Edition may be purchased.

Applications

Digital Acoustics intercoms and Paging units can be used in three ways: paired, with PC console(s), or with a SIP 2.0 IP phone system.

Paired Intercoms:
For paired systems, two endpoints can be configured as paired point-to-point units. These two intercoms can talk to each other from anywhere in the world over the Internet. They are configured using the free TalkMaster™ Focus Software running on a PC, and once set-up, the PC is removed, and the two endpoints will forever talk to each other exclusively. You can change the configuration later by running TalkMaster LE again. You can have an unlimited number of paired intercoms on the same network - they will not interfere with each other.

Console Based Systems:
A console based intercom system, has one or more PC Consoles, communicating with any number of endpoints.   Different software is needed to run a single-console system versus a multi-console system.

Single-console systems can be implemented using the free TalkMaster Focus Solo that comes free with the purchase of any intercom or paging unit. A single-console system utilizes a Windows PC running TalkMaster Software to communicate with IP Intercom/Paging Endpoints. This is a "virtual" star configuration, where all endpoints (intercoms or paging units) report to the console. The console can communicate with any endpoint using the PC's speaker and microphone. Using the Talkmaster GUI (Graphical User Interface), the console operator can initiate or receive calls to/from endpoints. The operator is notified of waiting calls, and customized "please wait" messages can be created for calls waiting in queue. The console operator may also select groups of intercoms and paging units to broadcast a message (for paging or public address). It is important to note that the operator Console cannot “join” two endpoints together in a separate call. Only communication to/from the PC console is permitted.

Multi-console systems require the purchase and installation of TalkMaster™ Focus Enterprise software. This advanced software allows for multiple, simultaneously active consoles. A server is required to host the Talkmaster-Enterprise Application. This system features real-time call handling, using rules-based queue management. Intercom queues are groups of intercoms that may be assigned to human console operators acting in management teams. To assure service quality, the software incorporates a powerful set of rules-based controls to handle incoming call counts, waiting time in queue and call priorities. By applying these rules, the Talkmaster Administrator is able to establish call response hierarchies for virtually any organizational requirement.
