  • 1. Web page configuration settings do not take effect.

This is a common caching problem found most often with Microsoft Internet Explorer. A good fix is to tell your browser to check for new versions of a web page with every visit to the page. Also make sure you are clicking on "ok" and "apply settings" after you are done changing a configuration in the web page configuration manager.

To change your Internet Explorer settings:

Click on Tools > Internet Options >

Locate "Temporary Internet Files" and click "Settings"

You will see: "Check for newer versions of stored pages"

Select the radio button that says "Every visit to the page"

    Hit "ok" and "ok" again.
  • 2. Cannot access web page configuration for WI232.

The following is for if you cannot access the web config via WIRED ETHERNET of a WI232 out of the box:

By default, the wired Ethernet port on a WI232 is NOT active, so you won't be able to access its web page configuration manager this way. The WI232 boots up with its serial port active, and its wireless interface active. The wireless interface is broadcasting an SSID of LTRX_IBSS. You will need to enable the wired Ethernet interface in order to enable the web page configuration manager via wired ethernet. You can do this by initially configuring the unit in one of two ways:

    1. Configuring through the serial port
    2. Connecting to it wirelessly from a PC

To configure the unit through its serial port:

Physically connect the unit's serial port to a PC's serial port. Make a connection with Hyperterminal or some other virtual terminal to your PC's COM port (COM 1 on most PC's) with the settings 9600,8,n,1, no flow control. Cycle the power on the Wi232, and hold down the "x" key in the terminal window. You will see a prompt returned to you if successful. The command set is in the manual on the Cd. Enable "Wired Mode" and save your settings.

Now the unit's wired Ethernet port is active, and you can get to the web manager via wired Ethernet. Keep in mind that by default the WI232 will boot up and send a DHCP request for an IP address by default. If it is unable to obtain a DHCP IP address, it will assign itself an IP address in the standard 169.254.x.x range. In order for you to communicate with the unit in this case, you will need to assign your PC an IP address in that same subnet. Once you have done this, you can now run the Device Installer software to locate the IP address of the WI232 and get to the web page configuration manager.

To connect to the unit via wireless and configure it:

First you will need a PC with a wireless card. Once found, do a serch for available wireless networks. You will see a wireless network with an SSID of LTRX_IBSS. This is the WI232. Connect to that network. You will be connecting in an ad hoc fasion.

Once at the web page config, keep in mind that you have arrived here by connecting to the unit via wireless. If you want to enable the wired Ethernet interface of the unit, you will need to do it from within this page or via the serial port. Once you enable the wired Ethernet interface, the wireless interface turns off. You will lose your current wireless connection. Make note of the IP address of the unit before you do this, or change its IP address first to something within a valid range that exists on your wired Ethernet, to make it easier to find on the wired side.
